Amber Fort and Palace. Set on a hill top overlooking Maota Lake, the original home of Rajput royalty with many breath-taking palaces, halls, gardens, and temples. The fort is reached on foot, by jeep, or by elephant ride. There is an evening sound and light show and nearby Anokhi Museum is also worth a visit.

City Palace. Huge complex of courtyards, gardens, and buildings blend both Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. The Peacock Gate is wonderful and inside the City Palace complex there is a museum, art gallery and displays of royal costumes and old Indian weapons.

Hawa Mahal, Palace of the Winds. Jaipur's most recognized building was built in 1799 with panoramic views from the top.

Jantar Mantar Observatory. Built by King Jai Singh II between 1727 and 1734 there is a collection of 14 sculptures with a specific astronomical function including the 27-metre Samrat Yantra sundial.

Jaigarh Fort. Towering gateways and watchtowers and the world's largest cannon on wheels. Climb the Diwa Burj watchtower to get an excellent view over the plains.

Jal Mahal. Meaning ‘water palace’ is in the middle of Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur City, accessed by traiditional Rajput style wooden boats, with views of the temples and ancient forts of the Aravali Hills.

Nahargarh Fort also known as Tiger Fort, is high on the Aravali Hills overlooking Jaipur with spectacular views especially at sunset.

Markets and Shopping. Gemstones, silver jewellery, bangles, clothes, blue pottery, and textiles.

Monkey Temple. A holy Hindi temple with three sacred pools of water, one of which has been taken over by thousands of monkeys that congregate to swim and bathe.

Government Central (Albert Hall) Museum. Modelled on the Victoria and Albert Museum in London with a collection of portraits of local kings, costumes, woodcarvings, paintings, and arts and crafts.

Elefantastic. Created in 2012 to promote the wellbeing of these giant creatures, you can wash, feed and water the elephants, learn about elephant decorating and painting.
