Location

Close to the Channel Port of Dover, Folkestone's Channel Tunnel and Canterbury, the Marquis at Alkham restaurant and hotel is in the picturesque village of Alkham at the Southern end of the Kent Downs.

The surrounding Alkham Valley, with rolling hills and narrow country lanes, is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and three of the luxury rooms have views of both the valley and the village cricket pitch.

Don't miss Dover Castle and Canterbury Cathedral, they're two of the most distinctive and historical buildings in Britain, right on the doorstep. And if you like walking, horse riding, sailing, golf, cricket, fishing, you'll be spoilt for choice.

The setting isn’t just breathtaking, it's convenient too. Just five minutes from the M20 - and only ten from the Channel Tunnel or Dover's Port and Cruise Terminal. Central London is under 90 minutes away; Paris less than three hours so your holiday on the continent starts here.

Vineyard

The Marquis at Alkham has 5½ acres of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grapes just a short stroll from the restaurant. Sparkling wine – Chalksole Vintage Reserve blended and bottled by Chapel Down Winery - is taking everyone by surprise. Their multi award-winning international winemaking team have worked with the team at The Marquis to create a crisp dry sparkling wine, to complement the restaurant cuisine.
