Fishponds House Country Hotel is set in 45 acres of tranquil Devonshire parkland. The setting is magical and offers a variety of accommodation to make your stay truly pleasurable.
You will find yourself in a beautiful resting place, where the background sounds are nought but birdsong and the eye may feast on the entrancing variety of beautiful trees, flora, fauna and fritilleries. You can stroll through the meadow or around a lake, keeping one eye lazy on the wild flowers and the other alert to catch the leap from the water of the big carp.
When you’ve finished exploring, the hotel restaurant and bar is where you can try one of the many skilfully home-cooked meals aside a spitting log fire with a cinnamon pint of the locally brewed Otter ale.
Fishponds has a history. Part of the hotel, next to the well stocked bar where some claim to have encountered spirits, dates back to 1201. It formed the cottage for a lake-keeper employed by the monks at nearby Dunkeswell Abbey who kept their table supplied with fresh fish.
There are twelve comfy hotel rooms, three snug self catering cottages and an idyllic camp site for the young at heart and families intent on swapping the good life for swallows and amazons.
