Spotlight on London Hotels: Bermondsey Square

Whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure, you need three things from London hotels: great facilities, a local area you’ll want to get out and explore, alongside easy access to all the places you want to go. And you’re in luck! Because The Bermondsey Square Hotel offers all this and more.

The Bermondsey Square Hotel

The Bermondsey Square Hotel is certainly one of the more chic and luxurious hotels of London hotels,  and indeed has hosted the likes of Gordon Ramsey and Mary Portas in the Channel 4 show Hotel GB.

The property’s ninety designer bedrooms have facilities ranging from work space to Grohe drench showers in the wet-rooms, while six have access to a large outdoor terrace. Four super-luxurious loft suites, with features such as Japanese baths or eight-person hot-tubs, all offer sensational panoramas of London, with views as far as the London Eye and Houses of Parliament.

The loft suites can also make conferences, interviews or film-shoots something special, while a boardroom is available for more formal meetings. You can have a more casual gathering in the comfort of the ground-floor lounge, with free tea and coffee between 11am and 5pm.

Whether you’re staying at the hotel or not, a modern-British menu is available between 11am and 11pm, or you can enjoy home-make cakes and pastries from the Pantry. There’s a choice of eating indoors or, in fine weather, out on the terrace and lively adjacent square  ̶  and, if you feel you’ve overeaten, hotel guests receive preferential rates at the exclusive Soho Gyms.

Bermondsey Square

The Bermondsey Square area is fast becoming one of the most fashionable parts of London, packed with stylish restaurants, shopping and nightlife, all a stone’s throw from the hotel.

If you enjoy sorting through bric-a-brac with the hope of finding hidden treasures, the Bermondsey Square Antiques Market, founded in 1855, is right on the doorstep. What’s more, within no more than five or six minutes’ walk, you can also find several art galleries, the Fashion and Textile Museum, and an idiosyncratic independent cinema.

Seeing London

Whether you’re staying at the Bermondsey Square Hotel for business or pleasure, wherever you want is within easy reach. Both the City and Canary Wharf are a couple of Tube stations or a short taxi ride away, while sightseers are a brief walk from iconic locations like the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and the Shard.

London Bridge tube station is also nearby and will whisk you anywhere in central London, or you can choose to see the capital from the top of one of the many buses serving the area.

The Bermondsey Square Hotel is luxurious, well-located and within easy reach of the famed city sights. How many London hotels can boast the same?

Forget Ascot, Let’s Go To Chester For Racing and a City Break!

One of the great summer events in the British calendar is horse racing at Ascot, but while Ladies Day has its merits, it’s Chester Racecourse that really knows how to have fun in style…

The oldest racecourse in Britain, perfect for a city break, you haven’t seen creative millinery until you have come here. The colours, the characters and the general hum of entertainment and excitement begin in May and run throughout the summer months, in addition to a healthy spectrum of polo events.

On a race day the whole town plays out like a pantomime, bringing to life a sense of tradition that belies its Roman origins and Tudor architecture. The pubs brim over with brightly coloured dresses and teetering heels, happy faces and a sense of anticipation. For the sake of reverie we will imagine that on these days the sun always shines (it certainly does in our experience).

After the races, when the party vibe has reached fever pitch, the jovial atmosphere continues as crowds make their way back into the centre of Chester itself. They totter along the cobbled roads and past the designer boutiques to dine out on the day’s triumphs and tribulations, surrounded by historic sites and ancient city walls.

There’s a wealth of restaurants, bars and cafes available during your city break in which to find your preferred tipple (the people of Chester certainly know how to have a good time) but when the day is royally spent and you’re ready to lay your head down, go to the BW Premier Queen Hotel at the heart of the city.

Sitting next to Chester Railway Station (travel does not get more convenient than that), it’s welcomed the likes of Charles Dickens and businessman and politician Cecil Rhodes over the years, sating a breadth of taste and preferences amongst its patrons and, who knows, perhaps providing literary or entrepreneurial inspiration at the same time.

The hotel which is ideal for your city break, has many an asset to its name but key amongst them is the food. Referencing its past as well as its location, there are three options for eating and drinking in various degrees of formality. The Waiting Room Bar and Lounge is the place to go for homely food and locally sourced drinks and cask ales, while the Albert Lounge is famous for afternoon teas by the fire, so much so that they have been serving them for more than 150 years. It is the Kings’ Quarters Grill and Cocktail Lounge however that’s a personal favourite, and no doubt the name gives a bit of a hint as to why.

Not only do they serve a mean cocktail, but they specialise in a range of regional dishes combined with a relaxing atmosphere, which particularly after all that excitement on the racecourse provides some welcome respite at the end of the day. If the sun is shining (as we are assured it will), then you can also sit outside and enjoy a drink in the afternoon sun on one of two Italian terraces surrounded by landscaped gardens – a welcome surprise in the heart of a city.

Beyond the dining, the hotel is a feast of little surprises fusing contemporary design with a strong sense of history; it’s not afraid of bold colours and whimsical features such as elaborately illustrated feature walls. It also has a ‘Secret Sanctuary’ for beauty treatments and easily transitions from being an ideal location for meetings and conferences to weddings and special occasions, or simply the setting for that long awaited glass of red whilst pondering the day’s events. No wonder it’s been such a longstanding favourite amongst the good and the great for a relaxing city break.

So follow a different crowd this summer and head to Chester. You never know, today could be your lucky day…

The Decoration of a chic hotel is Important

Location is Important

But using a Bespoke Hotels Privilege Card gives you the best of both worlds.

Customers just show their card when booking a room or a meal with a particular property. Then you can qualify for special offers, upgrades, or dicounts off meals and other facilities. What Makes the Bespoke Hotel Privilege Card effective?.

The Bespoke Privilege card works in two ways. Firstly, it entitles the bearer to receive special offers and promotions exclusive to cardholders, which can then be redeemed at participating hotels.
